Photonomie is a free iPhone app to capture 360-degree immersive photos in real-time. Using this app, you can easily take astonishing immersive (submerged) photos and experience them in a 360-degree environment. It is quite similar to the Android app “Cardboard“, but doesn’t requires any cardboard viewer to view photos. That means you can simply take (360-degree) photos and view them within the app itself.
The best part of this app is that, whether you capture immersive photos in portrait or landscape mode, the results will be the same. All you need to do is hold your phone around a constant point and start rotating, instead of moving up/down or left/right. The more slowly you rotate your iPhone, the more perfect will be the photos. After capturing immersive photos, you can also share them with others via Facebook, Twitter, etc.
How to Capture 360-Degree Immersive Photos using your iPhone:
Step 1: After you open the app, you will see a “Camera” icon at the bottom of the screen using which you can start capturing photos. There are other tabs like private, public, favorites, and profile as shown below.
Step 2: As soon as you tap the camera icon, the built-in camera will open up with a small flat canvas at the center of the screen. The area which you capture inside the flat canvas will become an immersive photo. Click the big red button to start taking photos.
Step 3: As we have already discussed that in order to get a perfect immersive photo, you have to hold your phone at a steady point. After that, simply rotate your phone gently instead of moving it up and down or left and right.
Step 4: When you’re done with capturing, the photo will be auto saved in the private tab. Tap any of the immersive photos to view them within the app. In the same manner, as you rotate your phone while taking photos, you can rotate while viewing them and experience the 360-degree environment.
Step 5: In the favorites tab, all your favorite and your team’s favorite photos will be available. That means you can also view your team’s creativity by tapping on them.
Step 6: After you’re done with capturing amazing immersive photos, you can either add to your favorites or share them with your friends via Facebook, Twitter, Email, etc.
My Final Verdict:
Photonomie is an amazing app for iPhone to capture stunning and visually appealing immersive photos. No cardboard viewer is required to view photos in a 360-degree environment. Honestly, I think it is a pretty interesting and fun app that I have come across in a long time for iPhone.
