NPR One is a free iPhone radio app with curated public radio news, stories. The app helps you in getting your daily dose of latest news which are curated by hand, as mentioned in app description. Even though all news are hand curated but it doesn’t mean that you might miss on some major breaking news, as app always displays breaking news of the day, along with curated news. Apart from breaking news, app also delivers local news to you, depending on your location. In short, this app is your one stop destination for getting breaking news, personalized news, local news, and much more.
The app also lets you control the way you want to listen to these news and stories. You can choose to jump any news/stories by 15 seconds or simply skip the complete story. You can also play/pause the content anytime, along with option for sharing it with others. The app comes with in-built search bar for searching favorite shows, stories, and podcasts.
Using this iPhone Radio App To Listen Curated Public Radio News, Stories:
To use NPR One app, you are required to login with either Facebook or Google+. You can also use your existing NPR account with app if you have one. As soon as you complete this step, the app will connect to local radio station and display all available radio news and stories. The main interface of the app is shown below in screenshot.
You can see the title of the news at the top, along with radio station name, time and date of news and length of the news. The app automatically plays all available news stories in continuous manner, but you can also check all the news stories by swapping left or right. To listen to any of them, you simply need to tap on them.
The options for controlling the radio playback are present at bottom. There are 3 options: Jump by 15, Play/Pause, and Next.
- Jump by 15: Use this option to jump by 15 seconds for any radio news or story.
- Play/Pause: Play and pause any show whenever you want using this option.
- Next: Don’t like a story or news, then skip it completely by using this option.
All the news, stories are hand curated but you can also choose the radio station of your choice. To do this, tap on profile icon at top right side. You will see the interface shown below. Tap on the Change Station option.
Now, you can change station either by tapping on Find Station Near Me or by simply entering Call Letters/ZIP.
