Automatically Summarize Online Article In 1-Click
With I Lazy to Read, you can easily generate a quick summary of long online articles. This is a single page website with the option to paste the URL right in the front on the homepage. To auto-summarize any online article, all you have to do is paste the link and click the “Generate” button. And, within a few seconds, this website analyzes that article and summarize it in a few lines for you.
Now, the main concern about this website is how it works, how good the output is, and so on. I used this to summarize many online articles and it did a decent job most of the time. The article content, structure, and complexity are the factors that affect the output. If an article has heading text then it covers those heading in the summary along with meta description which seems fine.
But, since the need for such tools arise in case of long articles so I tested some of the longest online articles that I’m familiar with, ‘Wait But Why’ blog. To be honest, those are some of the most complex and ridiculously informative articles on the web and I don’t think any program or tool can summarize them precisely.
Initially, I choose an average size article with a few thousand words and the summary is okay. It is what I expected. Since the article doesn’t have a proper structure so a few lines in the summary seems random.
Then I went with one of the longer articles, this one is on Cryonics and of course, it is complex even for a human. There is lots of information, perspectives, scenarios, and lots of other things in that article. Surprisingly, this website did a pretty good job at summarizing it. It did generate more than a few lines which seem necessary for that article and gives an overall view of what you gonna find in that article.
Try it yourself here.
