Room is a free online video chatroom, that comes with Screen Sharing, Video Chat, Voice Chat, and text chat. You only need to go the Room’s website and you will be able to create chatroom instantly. It does not require any registration, downloads, plugins, or any other annoyance. On creating the chatroom, you will get a URL which you can share with anyone with whom you want share screen or have video chat. The website supports addition of up to 3 users to your chatroom.
You use you chat room to have text based chats, voice based chats, and even share the screen. The sharing of screen is in real time and you will see all the activities performed by the user who is sharing the screen. Do know that screen sharing feature works only on Google Chrome.
Note: The Room website service is supported only in Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.
Creating Online Video Chatroom Without Signup:
When you open the Room website, you will see the interface as shown above. You have to click on the option Start Video Call to create the chatroom. When you click the option, your chatroom will be created.
You can see that at the top, my chatroom has a custom name set by me. If you also want to give it a custom name of your choice then you need to signup with the website. Otherwise, you can continue using the chatroom with the default name. Just below the chatroom name, you will see the URL which you can share with anyone you want.
All the users added by you to chatroom are shown in the three boxes at bottom. If you want to focus on any particular user, just click on box of that user to bring it up in the top big part.
The right side bar is for sending and receiving text based messages. You can send/receive messages just like any normal text messaging app.
You can see that there’s a small icon at the left side. This option is to start the screen sharing with other users. You just need to click on this option, and grant permission to website for accessing your webcam and mic. Your screen will be shared instantly. If you want to stop the screen sharing, then you can do so by clicking on this option again.
If at any point of time, you would like to leave the room, then you can do it by clicking on the option Leave at top left corner.
