Pando has the only free option on the list. The rest are not FREE, they’re FREE TRIALS. You eventually have to pay.

I’m afraid Jojo is talking absolute utter rubbish - I can only assume they live in a cave & are they completely out of touch with the modern world.

Even mobile phones now come complete with 16GB memory, so how on earth can you say that we don’t need large file transfer systems?!!!

I am a designer & routinely create or receive files in excess of a gigabyte that are private and often need to be sent to clients or colleagues discreetly.

My son is studying 3D design - how do you propose he sends files to his fellow students?

How do you propose my DJ friend sends a mix he’s created to our friend who’s travelling across Asia, or I send an edited DivX film of our New Years Eve Party to them?

I could go on…

Sufficed to say, if there’s just one system I can use to send them all, I will - I don’t have time to sniff around finding 101 different sites to send them all!

@Bien: This looks like a good concept, but the free option gives only 10 MB of space. That is lesser than what most of the email clients provide.

How about adding a client portal to your own site? I think that would certainly boost your business credibility. Check out The Client Space: it’s a complete client portal for small businesses. You can upload material for your clients to review, or clients can easily upload to their “space.” There’s more explained on the tour page at a href=“http:www.theclientspace.comtour” rel="nofollow"http:www.theclientspace.comtoura

@Manish: There was just one reason that we had left FileApartment out of our review: the free download is available for just 1 day, and 1 download. So, if I send a file to someone today, but heshe does not downloads it today but tries tomorrow, the file will no longer be available. That’s not a good user experience.

Another favorite option is File Apartment (http:www.fileapartment.com). Easy to use, no software to download or registration, up to 1 GB, free option, safe, and secure.

There is so much free software and services for transmitting large files. But WHY?

This is an area where there will be a lot of companies going out of business or consolidatingmerging.

Unless you actually created the file yourself, most large files are already hosted somewhere on the web. Just send the URL and be done with it.

Also, while some web email services will allow 20mb emails, most POP3 based emails are still 5mb or less.
