Boxee is my favorite PC TV software. When you install Boxee on your computer, it lets you access lot of media online. Boxee includes media from popular TV websites, and other online streaming content providers. However, instead of browsing various channels, Boxee groups all the content under various categories. For example, there is a complete section for TV shows. Just search for the TV show that you want to watch, and Boxee will automatically pull it from the sources where it is available.
Apart from watching TV shows on computer, Boxee also lets you stream content from sources like Youtube. Boxee even added a movie library recently where most of the movies are hosted in ad-supported manner. Boxee works on most of the popular platforms, including Windows, Mac, Ubuntu, and Apple TV.

Zinc.TV is another free software to watch TV on PC. Zinc.TV works a lot like Boxee. Zinc.TV has tons of internet TV content. It includes both free content from sites like Hulu and Cracle, and paid content from sites like Netflix and Amazon. This makes Zinc.TV really pretty big. At the time of writing of this article, Zinc.TV had a collection of more than 15,000 movies to watch online. Apart from movies, Zinc.TV also lets you watch tv shows on PC.
