We all know Alt+Tab hotkey in Windows is used to switch between opened applications, so lets just not talk about that. I will come directly to the purpose of this tutorial that how we can customize Alt+Tab Task Switcher in Windows 7. And for this task, here is a good software, known as Alt+Tab Tuner.
Alt+Tab Tuner lets you set the number of rows and columns, thumbs size, spacing between thumbs, icon shifts & size, and transparency of Alt+Tab window. So tweaking the Alt+Tab Task Switcher settings becomes very easy. You don’t have to open Registry Editor and add/modify keys to make changes to Alt+Tab. Every thing is done using mouse clicks.
The above screenshot shows the comparison of default and modified Alt+Tab window.
Note: This software also works for Windows 8. I thought lets try it for Windows 10 too, but it didn’t work. :p
Tweak Alt+Tab Task Switcher Settings Using This Software:
Go to the homepage and grab the zip archive of Alt+Tab Tuner. Extract the zip file and you will find two different folders: Windows 7 and Windows 8. You need to open Windows 7 folder and execute alttabtuner named application file. It will immediately open the UI of this software. No installation needed as it is a portable software.
Its interface is user-friendly, so there’s not much to explain. Whether you have to increase the size of thumbnails, set the gap between thumbs, set top/bottom/side margin, or transparency of Alt+Tab Task Switcher window, you only need to move the sliders.
Apply the changes and press Alt+Tab to view the changes.
If changes are good, you can keep the settings or continue to perform some more tweaks. If you want to use the Old Style Alt+Tab dialog, you can turn on the associated option and apply the changes.
Conclusion:
Alt+Tab Tuner is a tiny software, but very helpful to customize the default settings of Alt-tab Task Switcher. Undo the changes is also easy. Those who have a habit of using Alt+Tab hotkey, they can give it a try.
