Apple has launched an advanced version of their popular browser Safari for Windows. This works well on Windows, has some ingenious features, and of course, is free. Apple has even maintained Windows native look n feel for the Windows version of Safari so that Windows users feel right at home.
Here are some of the great features about this cool browser.
Top Sites
Top Sites presents a stunning, at-a-glance preview of your favorite websites. A similar feature is present in Google Chrome as well, but what sets Safari apart is the innovative layout of Top Sites. This ensures that more sites can be viewed together without making it look cluttered. Thumbnails of your top sites are presented, and it even shows which sites have new content since you last visited them.
Cover Flow
Taken right from iPhone and iTouch, Cover Flow offers a very visually appealing way to check your site history and bookmarked sites.
Search in your History
Another great feature: You can search your browsing history. You can do text search for content, or even captions of the images for the webpages that you had viewed earlier. Safari stores all in history. And the search results are displayed in Cover Flow format – cool.
Windows Native Look and Feel
Apple has conciously maintainted a Windows style look and feel in the Windows version of Safari. So, it is really easy to adapt to that.
Smart Address and Search Field
The address bar is smart as it offers suggestions from your browsing history, as well as Search box. Same as in Google Chrome (though we like Chrome’s better).
Phishing and Malware Protection
A must in any browser – Safari has an advanced Phishing and Malware protection built-in that offers a safe browsing experience.
Safari is a really cool browser, and definitely worth a try for home users. Developers can also try it out for its advanced tools for developers. Download links, and video tutorials at the end.
