When trying to download the latest version of iTunes 10.5 and ios 5 I encountered this issue called error 9808. The message it displays is “We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-9808). There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later.”
Like a lot of Apple fans, I’m sure you are also updating your iTunes to the latest 10.5 version and ios to the latest version ios 5. I was also doing the same thing when I encountered the iTunes error 9808.
The main cause of this error is the date and time settings. Meaning the date and time setting on your iPad and PC do not match. The date and time settings showing on your PC are incorrect. Another reason could be security certificate settings on your PC.
How to fix iTunes Error 9808 on Windows 7:
- Go to Start Menu
- Click on Control Panel
- Click on Date and Time Settings
- Change the date and time settings to the correct one
- Click of to apply the changes.
Now try accessing your iTunes store one more time. You should be able to access it easily now.
