Works on: Windows, Mac, Linux/Unix.
Some of us have multiple computers on our desk. All those computers come with their own keyboard and mouse, and take a lot of space of the desk. Also, if you are working on one computer and want to do something on other, you need to grab mouse and keyboard of that computer. Quite a hassle.
Synergy is a free and open source software that addresses these problems. Synergy works by letting you use the same mouse and keyboard for multiple machines. Shifting from one machine to another machine is as simple as moving mouse across the monitors.
Here are some of the features of Synergy:
Share Clipboard Across Multiple Computers: Synergy synchroizes clipboard of multiple computers so that the stuff that you copy in one computer can be pasted in another computer.
Synchronized Screensaver: Synergy manages all the computers so that screensaver starts on them at the same time. This ensures that if you are working on a computer, then screensaver will not come on other one due to inactivity on that computer.
Screen Locking: If screen locking is enabled, then unlocking one screen will unlock all the screens.
To use Synergy, you tell it the layout of your screens. The screens might be laid out sideways, vertically, or both. Synergy also handles the case where one machine might have multiple screens.
Synergy is really useful for those who have multiple machines on their desk, and has very good features. The best part is that it is totally free. Download using links at the end.
