LightGallery is a free image viewer that comes with built-in animated GIF player and image slideshow. Although we can play image slideshow in almost any other good image viewer or editor, but playing animated GIF images is not possible with many similar software. You either need to use a browser (like Chrome) that supports animated GIFs or download a particular GIF player software separately. So, this free image viewer is surely a better choice.
It also comes with dozens of transition effects for playing the slideshow. You can also set transition effect to manually change the images. Zoom out, Scale Up, Slide Vertical, Slide Skew, Fade, Lollipop, and many other effects are available to choose from.

Using This Free Image Viewer:
You can use this link to grab the setup and then install this free image viewer. Open the interface and drop images on its interface. To add multiple images from a folder, you have to use Open directory option available in File menu.
After inserting the images, the first image is visible on its interface and rest of the images can be seen as thumbnails. The thumbnails width can also be adjusted by you easily using Thumbnail menu. Now you can switch to any image using mouse wheel or manually select an image from the thumbnails. If there is any animated GIF, it will play automatically.
To play the image slideshow, you don’t have to configure the settings. Simply click on Autoplay option to enable the slideshow. The slideshow is played with default set speed and transition effect. However, you can set the speed as well as the effect using View menu.
Access Mode option to change the transition effect and Speed option to set the slideshow speed.
The Verdict:
Overall, this is a really good image viewer that has features to play animated GIFs and slideshow. If you compare it with some other advanced viewers that can apply effects to images, convert them, or resize them, then probably you won’t like this free image viewer a lot. However, this software has its own features and good to use for the purpose and features provided by it.
