TimerTask is a free software that can run a program at scheduled time. It can also launch a website or logoff and shutdown PC. You just set the scheduled time (like 10:30) and specify the action that needs to be done at that time. You can even set time in minutes (like, after 45 minutes), and TimerTask will then perform the specified action at that time. Other similar software we reviewed earlier include Start My Day, and TimeComX.

Update (18th April, 2011): This program is not available anymore. You can try the above mentioned alternatives.

TimerTask

TimerTask supports following actions currently:

  • Automatically launch a program
  • Automatically open a document
  • Show a notification window
  • Automatically open a website
  • Automatically logoff PC
  • Automatically shutdown PC

Most amazing part of TimerTask is that it is extremely small in size. The utility is just 8 KB in size! That is quite unbelievable. TimerTask is also extremely easy to use by virtue of its minimalist interface.

TimerTask comes from the makers of WhatChanged.

Thanks for pointing that out. Publishers of this program have now removed this program (and so the links that we had added earlier are not working any more). We have updated the article to reflect that. You can try a href=“https:www.ilovefreesoftware.com27windowsproductivitystart-my-day-free-software-to-automate-tasks.html” rel="nofollow"Start My Daya which provides some automation.

None of the links end at timer task, and there is nothing at that site that says TIMER TASK.
