Setup Monitor is a free software that monitors if any program is being installed. It immediately pops up a message when it detects a new program being installed. The message reminds you to create a system restore point before installing the software.
This free setup monitor also lets you create a system restore point in case you have not done that. You can provide a custom name of system restore point.
When I was reading about this software, I thought why would I use this software that does just one thing – remind me about creating system restore point. Then I tried thinking when was the last time that I had actually created a system restore point, even though I install tons of programs. And then it hit me that this is indeed a great software, especially for someone like me.
Also check out system restore manager, and Comodo Time Machine.
So, if you are also one of those that are not into creating system restore points, then this would be a good software for you. Do note that this software keeps running in the background. So, if you do not frequently install programs, you might not want it.
