Metro Media Player Pro is a free video player app for Windows 8 and 8.1 which lets you playback videos of a large range of formats on your device. You can choose to play videos stored on your device of formats including avi, mp4, wmv, etc. Once the video has been opened, you can perform the standard video control functions from the bottom of the screen like playing, pausing, etc. You can also change the size of the video playback screen via the size toggle at the bottom, and if you want to multitask, you can snap the video player to any side of the screen and continue working on your task. You can also minimize the app and the app still continues to play back videos while minimized in the background.

When installed and launched on your device for the first time, Metro Media Player Pro will present you with an interface which looks like the below screenshot.
In the above screen, you will basically be introduced to the main features of the app. You can go ahead and click on the Close button in the dialog shown on the screen, and then you can open up a video file by clicking on the Open button in the bottom right corner of the screen. Once you click on the same, you will be presented with the familiar file browser screen where you can navigate between the folders, and click on the video file that you want to watch using the app. Once you select a video file and click on OK, you will be presented with the playback interface as you can see below.
So here, you can see the video being played back with all the controls that allow you to change the video playback parameters at the bottom of the screen. You can also go ahead and toggle the size of the video by clicking on the size button and selecting the size you want the video to be resized to.
You can see the video resized in the above screen. If you want to multitask, you can also go ahead and snap the video player app to either side of the screen so that you can continue working on whatever it is that you wish to work on.
You can also choose to minimize the app in the background, and it will still continue playing the video if all that you want is to hear the audio stream of the video file, which might be useful if the video that you are playing is a music video. Metro Media Player Pro is a well designed app which flawlessly plays back a variety of video file formats. The app works well while snapped, has no ads and does not ask you for money as well. This overall makes for a great complete package, and hence I highly recommend this app if all you want to do is play back video files on your Windows 8 or 8.1 device!
