Dmailer Backup is a simple, yet effective piece of free backup software that makes it simple for users to back up all important files. The free backup software is installed onto a storage device of some kind and from here it regularly creates backups of the computer files on the storage device it is connected to.

Dmailer Backup comes with 2GB free online backup. If you need more space, you can try GoAruna, ADrive, or Wuala.

The slick, easy on the eye interface of Dmailer Backup.

Here are some features of Dmailer Backup:

  • Easy to set up.
  • Cross compatible with any PC or Mac.
  • Backup to any storage device.
  • Backup to your free 2GB Dmailer online account.
  • Choose from backing up media files or your entire computer.

Simple, Automatic Free Backup Software

Dmailer backup is very simple to use. Once you have initially set up the free backup software on the storage device you want to use, backups are automatically updated. Several versions of the same file are supported and can be backed up, which is useful for those who often work collaboratively on a document or project.

The clean, slick interface of the free backup software means that it needn’t be alien to anyone, even those who at unfamiliar with backup software and may not have a huge level of computer knowledge.

Conclusion

So we can conclude that this free backup software is a very useful tool indeed. Its main pull is that it updates your backups automatically once it has been set up, meaning that no user intervention is needed once it has started.

However, it really does not offer anything additional as compared to other free backup software like Mozy, Dropbox, or Live Mesh.

@Anthony: Thanks for dropping by. The only additional feature I see from your comment is ability to create local backups. However, I don’t think that’s a really killer feature. I am myself a user of Dropbox and Live Mesh, and the reason I prefer those is they back up my data online as well as my second laptop. That’s the killer feature.

Apart from that, Live Mesh already offers more free space than Dmailer (5GB), and Dropbox lets you get lot of free space by referring friends (I already have more than 5GB with Dropbox).

However, as Tom noted in his article, Dmailer scores really well in terms of sheer simplicity.

Hello Tom,

I’m Anthony from Dmailer and I’ve read your post with great attention.

I would like to highlight a couple of points, especially regarding the competition.
You said: “However, it really does not offer anything additional as compared to other free backup software like Mozy, Dropbox, or Live Mesh.”

Mozy is a pure online backup player. The purpose of this software is to make you upload all your data to their servers. The message we want to convey with Dmailer Backup is different: we make you create a local backup on a USB drive first because we think it’s one of the most obvious and simple backup strategy available today. Then, we offer you the option to backup online to get more “redundancy”, just like another insurance policy. Mozy recently added support for local backup in Mozy 2, which shows that our approach makes sense, but it’s a hidden feature in the advanced settings of the software, and it doesn’t offer any options at all (I cannot select different data set for my local and online backup, I cannot store several versions of my files etc…).

Dropbox and Live Mesh are also different, and I can talk about Dropbox because I’m one of their users! Their purpose is to sync content across multiple computers or device and act as an online repository for your files. Today, our approach is to offer our users an efficient backup strategy through local (first) and online backup (second) in one single interface.

As you can see, there is a lot of differences between all these applications and each user should decide which one to use based on his specific needs.

One last thing: we also offer competitive pricing for users who want to backup online more data with two different plans: 30GB at $34.99year or Unlimited at $69.99year

Thanks again for your post.

Regards,

Anthony
