QuickPad is a free Notepad Replacement for Windows that comes with some exciting features like customizable interface, Google search option, and inserting rare characters in text files. It’s a handy and lightweight application designed to help you create, edit, save, or modify text files in a convenient environment. QuickPad comes with an intuitive interface and allows you to fully customize the overall look of the program window before you start working on it. This includes changing the background color of typing box, changing the text color, and font typeface (only true fonts are allowed).
QuickPad is available as a freeware app and can be downloaded using the link given at the end of this article. Though the developers have said that this free Notepad Replacement is capable of running text files as scripts, I didn’t find any options in the program to run script files. But apart from that, all other features of the app work well without any problem. Let’s move further and have a brief look on its main features.
A Brief Overview of QuickPad:
QuickPad is a simple text editor that comes with a user-friendly interface. When you launch the app you will see a notepad-like editor with some extra options on the interface. These include QuickPad settings to customize program interface, options to switch to the full-screen mode, a toolbar containing quick access tools, searching selected text on Google from within the program interface, inserting special characters from character map available in Windows, and displaying word count in real-time.
You can click on the “Options” menu and choose “QuickPad Settings” option to change QuickPad settings and personalize its user interface. Here you can change the text color, background color, and font color, and see a live preview of them. Once you are done, you can save the changes and start working on your editor with a brand new look.
Apart from that, QuickPad provides options to insert unicode control characters in the text and encode the file in ANSI, Unicode, Unicode Big Endian, or UTF-Format before saving it as a text document.

The Final Verdict:
QuickPad is a nice free Notepad Replacement for Windows that comes with some really exciting features like customization options that gives an interesting look to your boring text editor. However, I found some flaws in the app that I would like to mention here. First of all, the “run text files as script” feature is missing. Secondly, the Google Search is not integrated within the app’s interface; it opens a new tab in the browser with search results on Google. And finally, option to “apply picture on the background” is missing. Rest everything works fine.
All in all, QuickPad is simple, funky, easy to use, and could be a nice replacement for Windows Notepad. Download free and try it out now!
