TapTiles is a free 3D puzzle game for Windows 8 in which you need to match identical tiles with a unique twist. The twist is that if you can’t find the match, you can rotate the provided 3D puzzle to view other side of the puzzle. TapTiles is a very addictive and fun matching game.
This game provides three different modes to play: Dash, Origins and Relaxation.
- In Origins mode, a timer is set. You start the game with one minute on the clock. Each puzzle completed earns you extra time.
- In Relaxation mode, tile must be left open either from the left side or from the right side to be selectable. It contains many groups of puzzle within the same puzzle. Solve as many puzzles as you can without the pressure of time in this mode.
- Dash mode contains the rules of both the above modes: Origin mode, and Relaxation mode.
It also provides daily challenges. You can play daily challenges to collect coins and different badges to compete with your friends. Daily challenges provide three different levels as well: Color Charge, Sprint Match, and Tap Tower.
You can also check your ranking on the world leaderboard (but you need to login in your XBOX account to use this feature). You can check your daily challenge badges and the different achieved medals on the home screen of the game. It also lets you check the statistics of the game, like: games played, longest speed matching tiles, and many more.

TapTiles is one of the best matching games and addictive as well. This game is very easy to play, but is challenging. Choose any one mode from provided options as per your choice. Use your visual skills, and find the identical tiles from provided options. Click on the tiles to select them. If you have clicked on any two identical tiles then they will disappear automatically.
As per your mode, try to solve each puzzle within provided time to earn stars. You can’t choose tiles in the middle, they are blocked. Only tiles on the corners and edges can be matched.

After launching the app, you will find different modes on the home screen: Origins, Relaxation, and Dash.
Origins: lets you play in a time mode. Origins contains a set of different collections and each collection contains 8 different levels.
The different rules of this mode are:
- Clear all tiles from a puzzle by matching identical pairs.
- Tiles must be open on the left or right side to be selectable.
- Complete all puzzles in a sequence before time runs out.
- Earn Stars on the basis of how much time you have remaining after finishing a puzzle.
- Match a pair of identical pairs to earn a multi-match score multiplier.
- Matching multiple pairs in two seconds or less creates a speed bonus chain and additional score multiplier.
- If you don’t see any matches, you can use the reshuffle button once per puzzle to rearrange the tiles and keep going.
Relaxation: This mode blocks the tiles in the middle. You can only select tiles on edges or corners.
You can play this mode with following rules:

- Complete as many groups of puzzles as you like, without the pressure of timer.
Dash: This mode is a mixture of above two modes: Origins and Relaxation.

TapTiles game provides an additional mode to play named “Daily challenge”. Daily challenge provides three different levels to play: Color Charge, Sprint Match, and Tap Tower. Complete all levels to get coins and badges. You can use these badges to compete with your friends.
In each mode, you can rotate your 3D puzzle to match from other side as well. To rotate you can either use your touch screen or your keyboard. Touch screen lets you rotate in a precise way. For keyboard you can use “A” and “D”, or “[” and “]”. You can also use your mouse scroll to rotate. You can even use provided on-screen buttons to swap.

TapTiles is a fun and addictive game. The game manages to keep you engaged for hours. I personally find this game to be very interesting and quite different from other matching puzzle games.
