LeanDroid for Android is a free app which improves battery life of a device by turning off different connections when the screen is off. This free app has the ability to manage data, wifi, and Bluetooth; it saves the battery by turning off these connections when the screen is not active. To ensure that you don’t end up missing notifications, the app also allows you to set time intervals after which connections are restored for a short duration (like, for 1 minute after every 15 minutes). Some of the features in the LeanDroid for Android are paid, but even free features are pretty useful.
Using LeanDroid for Android:
You can get this free app from the link or QR code posted at the end of this review. Once installed, simply launch it, and you will have the main interface in front of you. When launched, the app will be turned on and it will be set to disable wifi, network data, and Bluetooth by default. You can use the app the way it comes configured, or just disable any selected component.
LeanDroid allows you to set the time after the screen turns off that the data will be disabled. For more aggressive battery saving keep the duration shorter.
Re-enabling the connections can also be customized according to one’s preferences. You make the app re-connect connectivity after the screen is on or after the screen is unlocked. Also, you can set the time after which the device reconnects, so that you get new notifications. This is especially useful if you are using apps like PushBullet, DynamicNotifications, or SlideLock to get notificationseven when screen is locked.
The last option is the ability of LeanDroid is to not connect to the internet at the set intervals when your battery is below a certain level.
If you don’t want to use the app for a while, then tap on the on/off toggle in the upper right corner of the app screen.
The options which are locked are “only if inactive limit” and “except time”. These paid options do not reduce the usability of the free version.
