Hey_App is a free iPhone app to chat with strangers nearby. This app looks for people who want to chat with random strangers. The app lets you look for random strangers within range of 1 miles to 100 miles. You can find both male and females as random strangers. Before chatting or during it, you can only check profile photo, username, and status of other users.
To have a chat, you have to send “Hey” to stranger and if he/she chooses to send you a “Hey” then both of you can start chatting. You can also send images during the chat and flag other users if you find him/her disturbing you. The app even lets you choose whether you want to be visible in search results for other users or not.
Using This iPhone App to Chat With Strangers Near You:
On launching the app, you have to provide your email address for registering yourself with the app. After that complete your profile by choosing a username, status, and profile. On creating profile, app will display you the list of random strangers around your current location. This is also the default home screen of the app which is known as Nearby option.
You can see that each contact’s profile photo and status is displayed. You can tap on the contact photo to check complete profile. There is “Hey” written in front of each contact. Tap on it to chat with the stranger to send him “Hey”. You can send Hey to one user only once, but there is no limitation on the number of unique users for sending “Hey”. After sending “Hey”, you have to wait for other users to see it and send Hey back to you. If any user does this, then you both can start chatting.
Similarly, other users can send you “Hey” first and then you have to reply back. Tap on Hey option to reply back your Hey and start chatting.
While chatting with any stranger, you will get the text box to send messages at bottom while option for sharing images is on bottom left side. You can choose to share images by uploading from your existing albums or by clicking a new one from iPhone’s camera.
Besides this Nearby option, there are 3 more options at bottom: Conversations, Notifications, and Profile.
- Conversations: You can check all your current and past chats from here.
- Notifications: You can check notifications about users who Hey’d you and Hey’d each other. You can tap on user name to check the profile.
- Profile: View your own profile from here and also edit it.
The app also has few Settings option. Under this option, you can enable/disable your discovery, set search distance, and enable/disable notifications.
This way you can find and chat with random strangers easily.

Hey_App is a good iPhone app to chat with strangers near you. I liked the option of choosing the selection range for finding strangers. It is an app with basic chat features and no advanced features like its other counterpart apps out there but still, it’s a good app to try if you want a simple app for chatting.
