Recently, Facebook has introduced a cross-messaging feature on Instagram that lets you find and chat with your Facebook friends. Any Instagram users who have a Facebook account as well can use this feature by connecting their Facebook to Instagram. Initially, you should get this update notification on your Instagram from where you can enable or skip this feature. But if you somehow skipped or didn’t get the notification then here is how you can do it.

Chat with Facebook Friends from Instagram
If you like to enable cross-messaging on your Instagram account and miss the update notification on Instagram, you can follow this guide to do the same.
Open the Instagram app and go to the Settings from the account section. In the Instagram Settings, tap on the Privacy to get the respective options. Under the Privacy settings, you get Messages option that takes you to Message Controls.
Message Controls shows all the potential connections with your Instagram account. Here you see a new option called “Facebook Friends or People You’ve Chatted With on Messenger“. This is the option that you have to set to “Chats” to be able to chat with your Facebook friends from Instagram. Doing this changes the DM-icon to Messenger-icon on Instagram.
After enabling cross-messaging on your Instagram, when you search for someone on Instagram, you get this new section with results from Facebook Friends. You can simply tab on a profile from there and start messaging.

With this update, they can stay in contact with their Facebook friends without having Facebook or Messenger installed.
