Memrise is a free iPhone language learning app. You can use this app to learn Arabic Alphabet, Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Kanji, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish, Swedish, and Turkish. This language learning app can be accessed both online and offline but you are required to download the courses for offline viewing.
The app uses various interactive methods like using images, audios etc. to help you learn language easily and quickly. All the courses available in the app are well categorized so you can easily find out the areas in which you are weak or strong. You can also link the Memrise app with your existing Memrise and Facebook account.
Using This iPhone Language Learning App:
If you want to download the Memrise app then you can do it by either searching on iTunes App Store or by clicking on the link given at the end of this review. When you will launch the app for the first time, you will see a blank screen with only your username. This area is your dashboard where all your courses and progress will be displayed.
To start learning any course, tap on the downward arrow icon at top left. Now, tap on More Courses in the drop-down menu to select the language which you want to learn. The language selected by you will be added to your dashboard. While selecting the language, you also need to select its sub-category (Basic, Advanced etc.) depending on what you want to learn in that particular language. You can also select multiple languages or sub-categories for learning as each of them are added separately to your dashboard.
Each of the sub-category of the language is further divided into various categories. You can also call them steps as they help you in gripping the concepts quite easily. The app teaches you the language using various creative methods like mnemonics, etymology, photos, illustrations, sample sentences etc. Some of them are quite funny which makes it fun to learn the language through this app. All these creative items are termed as Mems in the app.
The app first teaches you the meaning of words and then how to use these words in sentences. The app displays sample sentences to give you a better understanding of sentence making in the language selected by you. After learning the words and sentence making, its time to give some tests to check how much have you learnt from the just completed lesson.
Your are awarded with 60 points for each correct answer while for every wrong answer, the app displays the correct answer along with the Mem related to it.
The best thing about the app is that you can choose any language and sub-category to learn it. There are no limitations like you have to clear the levels or you have to get a minimum number of points for unlocking the next category. It gives you full freedom over using the app.

Final Verdict:
I found the Memrise app to be effective and helpful for learning different languages. The app worked absolutely fine for me except for some minor network related issue which I faced while signing-up with the app. Apart from it, the app was bang on the target if we talk about the real purpose of the app. If you are looking for a good app to learn multiple languages, then do give it a try.
