Autorota is free software which is to automate staff rosters. With this software you can allocate the staff in different shifts and roles. You can define a particular rota pattern and assign this to certain number of staff for as many days as you wish. You can rotate rotas among the staff.
Basically, the free version of Autorota allows up to 10 staff, which is ideal for a small business environment. You can also check out online timesheet software, and free employee time clock software.

- This free employee roster software runs on various platforms like Windows 9x, 2000, ME, XP, Vista and 2003.
- The layout and navigation are as simple as it gets so that you can easily create the weekly rotas.
- There are few standard sets used in this free employee roster software. You can edit them to suit your organization.
- You are free to create rules which are user specific. Shifts and roles can be assigned on the basis of these rules.
- Autorota can allocate the shifts automatically. You can enter the ‘Auto allocate rules’ to allocate these rotas in an automatic manner.
- There is a year planner available for you to configure the days ahead in various standard labels such as ‘Vacation’, ‘Training’ etc. You will also be able to include the standard day ‘Off Sick’.
- You can export those already created rosters to HTML. This will make the viewing much more interesting.
- There is an animated tutorial available and with the help of that you can easily get a hold of the program.
- Rosters are defined for a full week in advance. However, the dates which you have already blocked as ‘Vacation’ or ‘Training’ for a particular staff will be loaded from the year planner to the weekly roster so that your task will be easily done.
- You can change the start day of the week. You can achieve this with the Autorota configuration. You will find ‘Rota options’ inside ‘Application Options’ and you can set the appropriate day as the starting date.
The next release, which is version 3, promises to have more amazing features. Monthly view and per person view are in consideration for the next version. Autorota is a good staff roster software if you have less than 10 employees.
