YouPhonics lets you collaborate with others on the web to make great music. YouPhonics lets people compose, share, and record music through a Internet-based interface. This is a great free online music collaboration software.
Your garage band no longer needs to be in your own garage, now you can create music on the Internet. Aidan Nulman is a musician who is the software designer of YouPhonics. The project was created as a mission to remove the barriers that musicians may have that prevent their ability to share and collaborate. YouPhonics can be used both for the recording and the uploading of parts of music.
Got a great guitar riff? Then this can be the thing you share with other musicians who can download it, listen to it, edit it, and maybe even improve it. These pieces are called “Stems” on YouPhonics and the idea is to mix them up to create new music.
YouPhonics is very clever and easy. You go to their home page, create an account, login, and start listening to the “Stems” (the music clips). A new feature, soon to be an upgrade to the system, is to see what others are adding and listening to.
There is a Sound Room that you can use to start manipulating a “Stem” or make up a new one. “Stems” are created by recording with any audio device. YouPhonics works with just about any audio file format available.

There is also a feature that allows users to rate a “Stem” giving it a positive rating, talk about it, and add some keyword tags to it. You are also allowed to download the music, so you can play around with it on your local computer.
When a group has completed a full project, it can be downloaded as well but the idea behind YouPhonics is the fun of sharing the music creation process and hearing what you are putting together.
