In this list, we talk about 4 free LinkedIn apps for Windows 8. These apps are very convenient to use, and provide all the functionality of the LinkedIn website within the apps themselves. You can use these apps to log in to your LinkedIn profile, access your connections, look for jobs, see related news etc. with just a few clicks.
So what are these apps and how exactly do they work? Read on to find out…
1. LinkedIn Touch
As the name of the app aptly suggests, the LinkedIn Touch is optimized to run well on touch screen Windows 8 devices as well as with the standard mouse and keyboard Windows 8 devices with no touch support. Upon launching the app, you will be asked to sign in to your LinkedIn profile. When that’s done, you will be taken to your LinkedIn profile. As you may have already seen in the screenshot above, the app gives you neat and nifty controls at the left side of the screen that allow you to successfully navigate between the commonly visited pages on LinkedIn like Search, Profile, News, Companies, Contacts, go Back to the previous page, etc. These controls occupy a very minor portion of the screen space, and the major portion of the screen is occupied by the LinkedIn interface. This app does not support snapped view for multitasking though, and that might be a big negative for some users.

2. Lucky Lin
Lucky Lin provides a brushed up and polished version of the LinkedIn app on your Windows 8 device. Upon launching the app, you have to log in to your LinkedIn profile. If you don’t have a LinkedIn profile, you can also choose to sign up for one at the homepage of the app. The app is pretty optimized for Windows 8 devices, and the developers have even addressed the needs of Tablet PC users by supporting the option of Portrait mode if you have set the Auto-rotation feature on your Tablet PC to on. Lucky Lin also provides toggles at the left side of the screen that come in handy for visiting frequently used pages on LinkedIn, including Home, News, Profile etc. The entire LinkedIn experience is pretty optimized and the one thing that I really like about this app is that it supports snapped view for multitasking as well!

3. LinkedIn HD
LinkedIn HD is another cool app for Windows 8 that redefines the browsing experience on LinkedIn. This app also offers pretty much the same features as the apps that I have mentioned above, by providing quick toggles like Back, Home, Profile, News, Messages, Groups, Companies and Jobs at the left side of the screen. These toggles are unobtrusive and take up a minimal amount of screen space, however, they are big and wide enough to be easily touched without the chance of hitting some other control when you wanted to click on something else. The LinkedIn website looks great inside this app, and the app supports snapped view for multitasking as well. Things that I like about this app- wide toggles for touch screen optimization, and snapped view support.

4. LinkedIn for desktop
LinkedIn for Desktop is an app that stands apart from the other apps that I mentioned above, because it doesn’t have that control bar with quick toggles open all the time at either side of the screen. This app provides a beautiful and seamless LinkedIn browsing experience in full screen mode without any intrusions. The app also optimizes the view type of LinkedIn for snapped view when you snap it to one side of the screen. The app developers have cleverly thought about removing the controls, because you can easily navigate between the various pages of the LinkedIn website through the controls provided on the web version of the LinkedIn website. The app is a great viewer for the LinkedIn website and you should definitely check it out, as it clocks in at less than 500 Kb. Snapped view support is a bonus feature that you’ll surely like.
