MailFred is a free Google Chrome extension that lets you schedule Gmail emails and get back the scheduled emails in Inbox with unread status. So it works as a reminder for important emails and conversations that matter you a lot. Google supports feature to schedule meetings, events, etc., but you need to first create an event. Therefore, this extension is handy as it works for all the emails available in your Inbox, Important, and other labels.
You might have also come across many other email scheduler services that are used to schedule emails to sent to recipients. This extension works opposite to those services. Instead of sending the emails to others, it lets you schedule emails for you only. You can schedule any email for a particular day, Later Today, The day after tomorrow, etc., to get back in Inbox as unread.

Here is the homepage link of this Chrome extension. After installation, open your Gmail account and authorize this extension.
When you are done with this step, open an email that you want to schedule. After opening the email, you will notice that an icon (bow-tie shaped) of this extension is available. Click that icon and all the options of this extension will be visible in a pop-up. Now you can select when you want to schedule the email: On a specific date, Tomorrow afternoon, Later today, Tomorrow morning, Same day next week, etc.
You will also be able to set:
- If you want to mark email as unread, starred, or not
- If you want to move the scheduled email to Inbox or not
- Archive the conversation, etc
Use the options according to your requirement and your email or email conversation will be scheduled. When the scheduled time will arrive, you will receive the email.
Conclusion:
MailFred is good to keep as it helps to remind you of important emails and conversations. What I miss in this extension is the option to select a particular time. It’s good that we can select a particular date, but selecting the time should also be the choice for users.
