We all know very well that Windows 10 uses modern Photos app as default image viewer. However, those who miss that old Windows Photo Viewer (the default image viewer of Windows 7), and want to use it in Windows 10, this tutorial is handy.
Yes, it is possible to use Windows 7 Photo Viewer in Windows 10. You only need to add some new entries to your Windows 10 Registry. Don’t worry, it won’t do any harm to your PC. You also don’t have to be a technical expert to do this. I have covered some easy steps to bring back the old Photo Viewer in Windows 10. Of course, it will be a good idea to backup Windows 10 Registry before you start.

Step 2: Paste the code in Notepad or any text editor software. Save the file as anything.reg file.
Step 3: Go to the destination where you have saved the REG file and right-click on it. You will see Merge option. Select that option to insert new entries in the Registry.
Before adding the new entries, it will show a confirmation message. Press Yes and new entries will be added to the Registry.
Step 4: Right-click on an image → Open with → Choose another app. In the list of Other options, you will see the old Windows Photo Viewer. You can now use it as default image viewer for Windows 10 or temporarily view an image.
If you are happy with modern Photos app or using other 3rd-party image viewer software for Windows 10, then you probably have no need to bring back the old Windows Photo Viewer. However, if you miss that viewer badly, then this trick will get it back for you.
