What is Facebook Campus?
Facebook Campus is a new feature that is exclusively available for college students. The feature has a dedicated section in the Facebook app but it only appears to college students with a Campus profile.
The idea is to provide students a virtual campus experience to know and connect with other students for this current COVID-19 situation. Due to the pandemic, almost all educational institutions have adapted to online education. Since all the students are learning online by attending classes from their homes, there is no interaction between the students in any conventional way. Facebook is trying to fill that interaction gap with this new Campus feature. The Campus feature is currently available to limited colleagues in the United States with more to come in the future.
How to Register on Facebook Campus?
In order to register on Facebook Campus, you have to be an enrolled student at a registered college. You are going to need your college email address to create a Campus profile. The campus profile is different from the Facebook profile. While creating the Campus profile you have to mention your graduation year. On top of that, you can also add other options information to your Campus profile including classes, major, minor, dorm, hometown, etc.
How Facebook Campus Works?
After successfully creating a Campus profile, you will be listed in your college directory on Facebook Campus. The Campus section shows you a news feed of your college where you get updates from classes, classmates, groups, etc. You can find your classmates and other students from your college and send them friend requests. You can find students by name, graduation year, major, minor, dorm, etc. There are classrooms that you can join and chat with classmates. You can create and join groups as well.
Events are an important part of colleges and Facebook Campus does offer a feature for that. The Events in the Campus is identical to Facebook Events, anyone can create an event and share it on the campus, classes, and group. Students can show their interest in the event, mark their RSVP, and join the discussion.
The Campus profile is limited to your college only, you can not find or interact with students from other registered colleges.

Closing Words
During the ongoing online education and classes, it got hard to interact and engage with fellow students. Colleges do not feel like collages anymore and there is a big communication gap in the students. Facebook Campus is trying to fulfill that communication gap by bringing all the college students together where they can find and interact with each other beyond online classes. It won’t be anyway near the actual campus experience but it way better than just an online classroom and allows students to get to know each other and try to as much campus experience as they can virtually.
