You might already have heard about ClubHouse by now. If not, it is an audio-chat app that is currently available for iOS devices in selected regions. But the app has an invite-only model where you need an invitation code to join the platform. This makes the platform limited to a specific set of people.
DogeHouse is a similar audio chat platform but it is open source and there is no need for an invitation. Anyone can join the platform and just like ClubHouse, host and join groups. So let’s check it out in more detail and see if it stands a chance against ClubHouse.

Open Source Alternative to ClubHouse: DogeHouse
DogeHouse has a familiar face. The platform uses the popular doge face as the icon that you might have known from memes or a currently trending cryptocurrency, DogeCoin. DogeHouse is a web app means there are not platform restrictions like ClubHouse. The app is available on the web, anyone can access it on any device with an internet browser. This includes laptops, smartphones, tablets, etc.
The platform is simple to use and you need an account to do that. You can either sign up with a GitHub account or use your Twitter account to do the same. After signing in, it shows you all the public rooms with their names and number of participants. At the bottom, you get an option to create your own room as well. After creating a room, you can share a link with others to invite them over to your room.
Similar to ClubHouse, the admin(s) of the room can appoint speakers. Any new joiner is added as a listener. In the room, you can check the speaker(s) and the listeners. There is also an option for the listener to ask the speaker or admin to join as speakers. This is how you can use DogeHouse as a viable alternative to ClubHouse.

DogeHouse offers almost similar features to ClubHouse. It eliminates the begging for invitations; anyone can join the platform anytime, find the room they want to join, and get along with it. DogeHouse has the potential to compete against ClubHouse the only question is will it be able to attract users to be able to that.
