SendBig is a free online file sharing website with resumable uploads, extendible expiry, and self destructive downloads. Here you can use it to send files as large as 30GB to anybody. You can generate a transfer link or you can directly email it to some recipient. You can track all the transfers that you have made in the past and cancel them if you want to.
Apart from core file sharing and transferring capabilities, it offers 2 different services for the same thing which sets it apart from other file sharing tools such as WeTransfer. Here it offers resumable uploads and can automatically extend file expiry. This is a good feature for hosting a file temporarily. However, files with extendable expiry date can be hosted for a maximum span of 2 years.
Resumable upload option is good if your download is stuck due to technical error such as no network. Or if you have no time and you really don’t want to cancel the upload then don’t worry. Next time when you connect to internet, it will start the upload right from where you left off. And you only need to sign up for a free account in order to do so.
With all that being said, SendBig offers 2 different file sharing services to use; SendBig Snap and SendBig Max. Snap allows you to send large files via email to anyone. It lets you make your transfers self destructive, meaning the file will expire after it is being downloaded specified number of times. While SendBig Max is meant to share files with longer expiry. The expiry date increases 30 days after each download when you share files via Max.
Free File Sharing Website with Resumable Uploads, Extendable Expiry
As I just said that you need a free account, so go to the main homepage here and then sign up for a free account. After that, you can start using this file sharing tool at its full potential. And if you don’t sign up for a free account then the file size limit will be capped at 5GB.
Using the SendBig for regular file sharing is easy. Just upload the file having maximum file size 30GB. And you can send unlimited files with it. Just go to Snaps section and then upload the file you want to share. Here you can also specify how many downloads you want to allow. Or, you can set a fixed expiry here in number of days. Additionally, you can specify an email and the file will be sent directly as link to the recipient.
In the similar fashion, you can use SendBig Max. However, in Max, the file size allowed to be sent through it is capped at 15 GB. The maximum expiry is 2 years and will extend after every download. You can opt to specify number of days to extend the expiry after the last time it was downloaded. Maximum is 30 days but if you want to extend expiry if the file has been downloaded in 10 or 15 days then you can do that.
You can track all the file transfers that you created so far using it. Go to the dashboard and it will list all the files that you have shared using SendBig. Here you can see file details such as file name, number of downloads, expiry, size, and status.
This is how you can use this simple and powerful file sharing service. Just have to create a free account and then start sending files to whoever you want. The process is simple and straightforward. In my opinion, it is a very nice alternative to WeTransfer or Firefox Send.
Final thoughts:
There are tons of online file sharing services out there and sometimes it becomes hard to choose one. But if you need a file sharing with option to extend expiry then you are at the right place. SendBig is better than most of the available ones. It is fast & robust and I liked the fact that it offers you a simple dashboard where you can see all the transfers that you have made so far.
